Jazz at the Station (every Wednesday)
LAST CALL. SEPTEMBER JAZZ LINE-UP
September 6 – Karly Epp/Karl Kohut
September 13 – Brian Chipney
September 20 – The Burton Trio
September 27 – Nadia Douglas
And here we are.
September, when the days dwindle down. School is back in session, holidays are done. Cooler temperatures are on the horizon. This will be the final month of Resto Gare’s “Jazz at the Station” for 2023. To complete our season we have four more Wednesdays featuring top-notch jazz talent, with the accent on vocalists!
Karly Epp is a U of M alumnus [or more properly “alumna”, though it isn’t a word you hear very often!] and has spent time working and studying in New York City. She’s a very fine singer! You can say exactly the same [minus the singer part!] about Carly’s bandmate Karl Kohut! Karl enjoyed four years in New York, including time spent studying at Juilliard and performing with the likes of Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. They’re pooled their talents to provide you with a brilliant evening of jazz on September 6th!
On the 13th our house band is back in action one more time. The Brian Chipney trio will be presenting mainstream jazz at its finest, featuring Richard Boughton on piano, Steve Hamilton on bass and Chipney himself on soprano saxophone. You won’t need to be a Juilliard graduate to enjoy the swinging jazz of this fine little band!
The Burton Trio graces our stage on the 20th. Adelle Burton is an under-rated vocalist, someone who likes to find her way to the heart of a song and get at the real meaning of the lyrics. Rob is a guitarist, expert in both solo and accompaniment. This husband and wife duo provides a relaxing evening of fine jazz.
Our final evening of the season features one of our favorite vocalists, Nadia Douglas, on September 27th. Nadia’s sultry song stylings will mark a grand finale for 2023 at Resto Gare! Pianist Rick Boughton will be there to provide his usual outstanding support to Nadia.
And there you have it ……. the final month of jazz at Resto Gare for this season!
Shows take place from 6:30 to 8:30 each Wednesday. We’ll be out on the patio whenever the weather allows. When it doesn’t we move inside to the inviting confines of our dining room. Reservations are suggested though not strictly required. Call us at 204-237-7072 to reserve your table. Always plenty of free parking alongside our historic train car. Our series is winding down for the season, but there’s still lots of great jazz to come! Join us every Wednesday in September for Resto Gare’s “Jazz at the Station”!!
